Beneath the towering columns of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, I set out to make my largest work yet—a 25-foot-wide, 17-foot-tall photograph of a centuries-old cypress tree. The idea had been with me for years, but this summer I finally brought it to life with the help of 12 incredible collaborators. We worked through wind, water, rigging challenges—and the watchful eyes of a curious gator. The project commemorates the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, honoring the connection between Louisiana’s natural history and the engineering that allows us to live here.
This video is the story of how we made it happen.
The installation image is available via my online gallery and at 910 Royal Street.

Early journeys
My exploration of the landscape began at an early age. Staring out the window of my mom's 1982 Mercury Grand Marquis station wagon, my siblings and I played "I spy."

I search for images that reveal the entanglement of people and nature.

Inspired Attention
I train my lens on poetic, beautiful, and challenging subjects to foster thoughtful reflection.
the Reinvigorate gaze
I use nocturnal long-exposure photographs, illuminating scenes with a combination of staged lights and the light of the moon and stars to inspire new ways of seeing.
royal Street & ONLINE Gallery
I photograph first to see, second to understand, and lastly to share.
Only after sharing do I begin to comprehend what I saw.
